| Course description | A research project tailored to the student's area of interest which will develop conceptual and analytical skills specific to that area, leading to a dissertation describing original research. There may be the possibility to undertake project work on external industrial placement, subject to availability and selection criteria.

Other requirements |  Pre-requisites : Successful completion of 120 credits in the appropriate level 11 courses for the degree programme with a weighted average at or above Grade C, or with the permission of the Head of School. 
 
Co-requisites : This course may only be taken as part of a Taught Postgraduate Masters degree in Materials Chemistry or Medicinal and Biological Chemistry. 
 
Prohibited combinations : Graduates from Edinburgh University BSc (Hons) or MChem/MChemphys (Hons) degrees in Chemistry or Chemical Physics may only take this course with the approval of the Head of School |
