Course descriptionIn the second semester of the Approaches to Research course, World Christianity candidates will study selected sources in the historical, social scientific, and theological study of world Christianity. These will be selected for their value in demonstrating key methodologies and with the overall aim of helping students prepare for their dissertation work and lay the foundations for further research in the area.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will:
(1) be familiar with some of the main methodological issues raised by the historical, social scientific, and theological study of world Christianity;
(2) have experience in critical analysis of some representative primary sources for the study of world Christianity;
(3) be well prepared to commence work on their Masters dissertation in World Christianity.
Assessment Information
Written dissertation proposal of 2,500-3,000 words, plus bibliography (60% of total course assessment);
Oral presentation of dissertation proposal (40% of total course assessment).
