Course descriptionThe aim of this course is to provide an introduction to the concepts and techniques that underpin the understanding of Geophysical Fields and Waves. The basic mathematical techniques of differential equations, fields, Fourier Transforms, Vectors and Tensors will be introduced along with direct applications to geophysical problems. The course will form a bridge between lecture material given in Maths and Physics in year 2, and the more specialist geophysical disciplines that will follow later in year 3 and 4.
Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: Introduction to Geophysics (EASC08008) AND Mathematical Methods 4 (Phys Sci) (MATH08018) AND Applicable Mathematics 4 (Phys Sci) (MATH08017) AND Physics 2A (PHYS08022)
