Course description | This course in spoken and written French is designed for students who have some knowledge of French (approximately Standard Grade/GCSE level) and who wish to extend it.
All students take all elements of assessment including the degree examination (2 hours).
There is an identical course (Foundation French Language 2 - ELCF07008) which runs in the first semester.
On successful completion of the course, students will have the option of taking Foundation French Language 3 ELCF07007 or ELCF07009 (20 credits each), which follows on from Foundation French Language 2. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Improved competence in the four main skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing French. This greater competence is intended to lead to greater confidence and to enhance the ability to learn independently. |

Coursework 50% (Regular coursework including class tests and oral assignments)
Degree exam 50% (A two-hour written paper)
