Course descriptionThis course will provide an outline of the factors that impact on health leadership and management, and analyse different models of leadership. It will explore the capacity of multidisciplinary teams to shape service development and delivery, looking at the mechanisms to engage different team players to contribute to agreed goals, and structured work plans.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course the candidate will:
* Understand and be able to critically evaluate the range of theories, principles and concepts underpinning effective clinical leadership
* Gain an understanding of the dynamics of team membership, and techniques to manage respectful team relationships, build networks and find common ground
* Develop staff roles and work plans within a logic model framework
* Understand the mechanisms for facilitating the resolution of conflicts in the
multi-disciplinary team
* Critically review, consolidate and extend knowledge, skills and practices and thinking in leadership
Assessment Information
Formal summative written assessment will constitute 60% of the student's grade. Online assessment will incorporate a variety of activities and will constitute 40% of the overall course grade and is taken to represent a formative assessment of learning throughout the programme.

This course will be taught entirely by distance learning, using the virtual learning environment Learn as the delivery platform. Course materials are protected by secure username and password access that will be made available to registered users.
