The course IMES10061, Modern Persian Literature and 'Modern' Iran, is a version of this course studying the texts in English translation.
The course IMES11051, Modern Iranian Society via Modern Iranian Literature, is a version of this course studying the texts in English translation for Postgraduate students.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
This course will address the works of several Iranian writers of the twentieth century and relate their careers and the style and substance of their literary contributions to trends and events in contemporary Iranian society. The course aims to also develop students' analytical skills and to improve their interactive capacities and their ability to do secondary-source research and to present oral and written work clearly and effectively.
