Course descriptionThe course aims to develop students' empirical and theoretical grasp of a number of key topics in the history of the Middle East, from the rise of the Islam to modern times. Students will also learn to tackle primary source material and develop their communication skills.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students will develop substantive historical knowledge on a number of topics, they will develop the capactity to critically evaluate competing historiographical approaches, a sensitivity to the problems posed by preimary sources, and enhanced communicative skills.
Assessment Information
One 2,500 word essay and one three-hour degree examination.
