Course description | Under the guidance of the supervisor, the student conducts a program of independent research in an area of Robotics and Autonomous Systems, and writes an extended dissertation on the topic. The dissertation must demonstrate a critical survey of knowledge in the field, a capability for pursuing research and a satisfactory plan for a more advanced research project, presented in a critical and scholarly way. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The programme provides opportunities for learners to achieve the following outcomes:
1.Gain basic skills in a robotics area of choice.
2.Structure and summarise a body of knowledge relating to a substantial project topic in Robotics and Autonomous Systems.
3.Critically evaluate previous work in the area.
4.Conduct a programme of work in further investigation of issues related to the topic.
5.Discuss and solve conceptual problems which arise during the investigation.
6.Justify design decisions made during the investigation.
7.Critically evaluate the investigation.
8.Present their work, with demonstration of working artefacts where appropriate.

Assessment Information
Course will be assessed based on a research report which can be a standard paper publication format, i.e. conference paper, an internal industrial report or patent application. Students may be required by their project markers to demonstrate any system that arose from the project. |
