Course descriptionAn introduction to good design and analysis of scientific studies of behaviour, the course covers issues in experimental design, descriptive statistics, and inferential statistics. Students will have extensive practice using a statistical package.

Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: LEL2B: Phonetic Analysis and Empirical Methods (LASC08018)

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
An understanding of internal and external validity, pertinent experimental designs, data as distributions; a grasp of statistical inference, ability to employ a statistical package to run commonly used descriptive and inferential statistics, and to interpret the results.
