| Course description | Detailed introduction to descriptive and theoretical aspects of historical linguistics, covering phonetic, phonological, morphological and syntactic change from a crosslinguistic perspective. 
 
Formative Feedback: Two 1:1 sessions, 2-3 weeks prior to assessment deadline, with each student to discuss topic, outline and reading of essay.  There will be an opportunity to discuss the pre-final version of the essay with the lecturer prior to submission. |
