Course descriptionAn examination of the major concerns and themes exhibited by Scottish chroniclers in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, concentrating on the work of John of Fordun and Walter Bower.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The principal objective of the course is to provide students with specialist knowledge and understanding of the chronicle writing in late medieval Scotland. Students will emerge from the course having developed a sufficient degree of expertise in the subject to undertake a Masters dissertation.
Assessment Information
An essay of 2000-3000 words on an approved topic, counting as 100% of the final course mark.
