Notes: Where the dissertation is taken in Philosophy, students have two options: (i) to take two further option courses in philosophy and be examined on 5,000 word essays for each course, or (ii) to register for the dissertation completion course and write one 8,000 word essay on a topic to be arranged with the department. All students who take the dissertation in philosophy must complete the Philosophy Dissertation course in year 3.
