Summary | The Econometrics Project is a group project in which students form small teams and work on a practical empirical or numerical topic using modern econometric techniques. Students will: (i) identify precise hypotheses that can be tested econometrically or a specific, analytically-intractable theoretical model to solve numerically, (ii) familiarise themselves with the relevant literature, (iii) if necessary, work with a dataset which enables them to test their hypotheses, (iv) use appropriate software to analyse the data and/or model, (v) present their results to an audience, and (vi) write up the whole exercise as a group project. A numerical methods project may be pursued as an alternative. Students will present at the Residential Conference at Crieff in January, and will later write up and submit their project for a mark later in Semester 2. |
