Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Italian Cultural Studies: Introduction to various aspects of Italian cultural expression (Literature, Film, Opera).
  2. Language: Structural competence: ranging from a basic grasp of Italian grammatical structures for students with no previous experience of Italian, to a deeper understanding of grammatical concepts for more advanced students.
  3. Lexical competence:a vocabulary of 800-1200 Italian words.
  4. Communicative competence: ability to communicate in Italian both in speaking and writing, within the range and context of the course.
  5. Receptive competence: reading and understanding of short written texts of medium to high level of difficulty and listening with understanding to 3-5 minute sections of spoken Italian delivered at normal speed by a native speaker.
