SummaryThis Course allows students a substantial period of study in which to consolidate their individual practice at an advanced level.

This course is only available to students on BA Combined Studies (School of Art).
Course description Students are expected to build on existing skills and research and may choose workshops and supervisors to help them achieve their outcomes. Syllabus and course content will be determined by the student in consulation with his or her course leader. Students will attend group crits and tutorials to help them clarify and consolidate their thinking.

This is the largest Course in terms of Student Effort Hours in the BA Combined Studies and is designed to be identified as a period of focused study, probably taken in the final year of the degree. This focused period of study and the work which is developed should allow students to pull together strands from the degree which are relevant to them, so that they can focus on one major submission.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Show evidence of highly developed research skills and the development of a distinct personal language
  2. Demonstrate a highly confident command of conceptual and making skills using materials appropriate to the development and consolidation of individual research
  3. Show professionalism, good judgement and a highly considered approach to the selection and presentation of a resolved body of work for assessment
