Summary
The course will encourage you to grow and extend your practice both within and out with the confines of the college environment and reach a broader, more diverse audience. You will be encouraged to reflect on and review your art practice in relation to the wider current and historic contexts.

Course description
You will extend your understanding of particular processes, methods and applications relevant to your work and begin to consolidate an integrated knowledge of your specialism that is informed by current practice.

You will continue to work in an increasingly independent manner in conjunction with a number of cross-school studio critiques, project space presentations and regular tutorial support. External exhibition opportunities, invited artists, gallery visits, lectures and workshops will contribute to learning. You will test how artworks are installed, received and understood professionally by participating in an external exhibition and collaborating with your peers across the School in the development and implementation of other external opportunities.

Additional Information (Assessment) Portfolio submission (100%) consisting of:

Documented artwork
This digital submission should include no more than 10 images, video not exceeding 10 min, and/or sound not exceeding 10min. These should be clearly labelled with title, date, medium, dimensions (height x width x depth) It is expected that this should include at least one project space presentation.

A Reflective Statement, not exceeding 500 words. This statement should critically reflect on the direction and progression of your studio work over semester 2 and situate the work in relation to other artistic practices and theoretical frameworks. It should also reflect upon your learning and identify areas for further personal development.

Feedback Formative Assessment and Feedback:

There will be two formative critiques - one mid-semester and one at the end of the course. At the mid-semester review, you will be asked to reflect on your plan of study. At the end of semester critique, you will present and discuss the work made during the semester.

Summative Feedback:

Written feedback on your submission will be posted on to LEARN within 15 working days.

  2. Utilize appropriate methods, processes and materials to expand concepts and to explore the defining features of individual practice
  3. Realise appropriate solutions in the development of concepts and a critical understanding of your specialised practice
