SummaryThe central question of the course is 'what are the current research issues in ecology?' This course would aim to fill a niche by introducing the students to research level ecosystem and marine ecology, drawing from the cutting edge research topics currently being explored within the Schools of Geosciences and Biological sciences. This course is useful not only to equip those wishing to pursue a career in academia, but also those who seek careers in the UK and overseas as environmental consultants, environmental regulators, conservation organisations, within forestry industry and water companies and environmental policy advisors for government agencies.
Course description Topics covered in lectures and discussions will include a broad range of current issues including tropical ecology, soil diversity, barcoding in ecology, geoengineering, species diversity and marine ecology.
