Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course the candidate will:
- Understand the rationale for psychiatric classification systems and the extent of their use in different cultures
- Understand basic epidemiological concepts and diagnostic procedures
- Describe the presentation and course of schizophrenia, bipolar illness, depression, delirium, dementia and substance misuse
- Have awareness of the treatment and management of the above conditions in different clinical and cultural contexts
- Have awareness about mental health policy and mental health law
- Understand the concept of risk
- Translate psychiatric skills to other clinical and non-clinical contexts
