SummaryThe course will provide students with basic skills to communicate in Turkish. It will cover some other tenses: second form of past tense, future perfect tens and reading will be included to practice theses tenses and vocabulary will be introduced.
Course description During the first semester the syllabus design will be as following:
The alphabet, vowel harmony, days of the week, months, seasons, numbers, colours, telling time, adjectives- comparative and superlative forms of adjectives, progressive tense, past tense, future tense, basic vocabulary, pronouns and simple dialogues-greetings


This course has been proposed to split Turkish1, which is a full year 40 credit course, into two consecutive 20 credit courses. It is expected to attract more students to register for the course.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Students will be able to understand the difference between simple present tense and present continuous tense in different contexts.
  2. They will be able to use some conjunctions and question words in their writing exercises.
  3. They will be able to learn and use quantities when it is necessary.
  4. They will be able to take part in simple conversations such as booking a ticket for the journey\a room at a hotel.
    They will learn some Turkish food and a simple Turkish recipe.
  5. They will also be able to translate simplified versions of some Turkish stories.
