| Summary | This course is taken during Persian Language Acquisition Through Residence/Study Abroad. It consists of a 2,000 word original composition in Persian.

| Course description |
A 2000-word essay (exclusive of any notes and bibliography) or 2000-word short story in Modern Persian. It is intended to strengthen and further develop knowledge of Persian in the area of writing and composition, enhance students' vocabulary, and improve their skills in the idiomatic use of Persian constructions. In addition, students will also have to present a 10-minute oral exam consisting of a brief presentation in Persian (5 minutes) about the topic addressed in the Persian Essay, and a brief discussion in Persian about the essay and the presentation.
The main qualities that markers will look for in the Persian Essay are:
- correct use of the target language (50%)
- range and appropriateness of vocabulary (10%)
- idiomatic expression (10%)
- in the case of an essay, the construction of a coherent argument (30%)
- in the case of a short story, literary merit and good narrative technique (30%)
