SummaryAn introduction to the scientific study of the origins and evolution of human language.
Course description This course provides an introduction to the main issues in the evolution and origins of the human language faculty and of actual human languages. The course sets out a basis of relevant facts accumulated from a range of disciplines within and outwith Linguistics, including animal behaviour, evolutionary theory, computer modelling, genetics, language acquisition, paleontology, archaeology.

Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: LEL2A: Linguistic Theory and the Structure of English (LASC08017)

Pre-requisitesVisiting students should have at least 3 Linguistics/Language Sciences courses at grade B or above (or be predicted to obtain this). We will only consider University/College level courses.
