Summary | This is a for-credit course offered by the Office of Lifelong Learning (OLL); only students registered with OLL should be enrolled.
Politics, violence, republicanism, stoic virtue: all this and more in Shakespeare¿s Roman plays. Shakespeare was fascinated by ancient Rome throughout all his creative life. We will study versions of 'Titus Andronicus' (1593), 'Julius Caesar' (1599), 'Antony and Cleopatra' (1606-7), and his final study of Roman culture, 'Coriolanus' (1607) using class discussion and DVD extracts. |
