| Summary | The course offers experienced healthcare professionals an opportunity to explore cognitive theories and the use of critical thinking to analyse complex and varied clinical presentations. The rapid processing, the articulation of needed action and the evaluation of prescribed interventions are also an integral part of learning in this course, which is offered by experienced and senior clinical experts.

| Course description |
This online course is blending simulated scenarios, with current evidence and emerging theories to help learners to assimilate knowledge and refine advanced clinical skills. Students will review and reflect on recordings of clinical signs and symptoms, accurate reporting of assessment procedures and documentation of care outcomes that support continuity of care.
The course will also explore the attributes that relate to the practitioner developing their diagnostic skills and support students to refine their role as clinical leaders.
Course Aims:
1. To provide a safe and conducive environment which enables students to acquire and hone new skills and knowledge, relating to advanced clinical practice
2. To enhance and build on core practice values and skills including clinical assessment, diagnostic skills and decision making.
3. To introduce students to learning opportunities that reflect innovative practice where data and information are captured without seeing the patient face to face (Telehealth).
The course is delivered entirely online but students are expected to interact and support learning of others through the use of digital tools. Specifically, the use of ePortfolios will support submission of reflections, collection of evidence of learning and individual feedback by the course leader. The use of Discussion Boards will enable asynchronous interaction between students who may be based in a range of care environments from across the globe.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Critically reflect on the theory which relates to clinical decision making and meta cognition, whilst considering the implications to own practice
- Make an informed differential diagnosis, on a number of unseen case studies, using advanced decision making and problem solving skills
- Critically review own practice and refine skills that enable provision of treatment and care both individually, as part of a team, and through referral to other agencies
- Demonstrate the ability to be a self-directed problem solving and autonomous learner in a dynamic eLearning environment.

The course is set to maximise the potential of distance and on-line education and support a flexible learning route that gives students the prospect of honing newly acquired skills, whilst engaging in the delivery of competent and person centred care.
It is also set to meet the continuing and changing development and educational needs of the healthcare workforce that requires adapting to rapid demographic changes and technological scientific advancements.
Students will be able to integrate safe, effective and person centred care with other core segments of practice. These include leadership and enabling change to take place, embedding evidence, research and development into practice as well as facilitating learning and supporting innovation in service delivery.
At the end of this course and by completing the programme students would be expected to operate successfully at an advanced level, alongside other professionals who share similar skills, behaviour, knowledge and understanding.
