SummaryThe course examines Indigenous politics and claims for Indigenous autonomy
in North America, Australasia and Europe. It also considers the development
of international Indigenous relations and reviews new scholarship by
Indigenous scholars. The course enables students to evaluate comparative
Indigenous politics against theories of
international Indigenism and develop key skills in primary research.
The international approach enables students to acquire knowledge about
global dimensions of Indigenous politics and ways in which Indigenous
concerns are articulated through international organisations.
