Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- articulate the problems associated with building theories of religion from African perpectives
- differentiate between African interpretations and the appropriation of Western concepts as if they were indigenous
- critically analyse the approaches to the study of religions by the African scholars examined; explain the relevance of post-colonial perspectives to African views of Religious Studies
- express in written and verbal forms how competing theories in the study of religions by African scholar critique each other
