Summary | The Dissertation involves the preparation, under the supervision of a member of staff, of a research paper based on field and archive work, approximately 10,000 words (excluding notes and bibliography) in lenght. This course of study is compulsory for most honours students. The choice of topic is left open to the student, but he or she must obtain approval through consultation with the Course Organiser and the agreement of a panel of lecturers. All research must conform to the Guidleines on Ethics issued by the School. Aportion of the second semester in Year 3 should be devoted to preparatory work in consultation with your supervisor. Most fieldwork will normally be undertaken during the summer vacation between Years 3 and 4. |
