| Summary | Housing and housing policy in the UK are changing and there is greater awareness of the role of housing in European social issues. The policies of the 1970's and 1980's in the UK, that focused on deregulation and privatisation have shifted, and there is now an agenda more concerned with complex issues around affordability, social exclusion and differentiation within and between tenures. In particular there is more regionalisation of policy, the development of policy around markets and sub-markets, increased roles for 'enabling' organisations, which can be integrated with European housing policy perspectives. |
