SummaryThis course provides students with an understanding of the requirements for funding applications and sponsorship; strategies for marketing and promotion and the role of social media in science communication.
Course description Students will explore: the development of funding applications including components of science communication within research proposals; marketing strategies for various levels of science communication activity; the role of social media in promoting activities, events and for communicating science.

Students will develop critical thinking and analytical skills applicable in a practice-based, professional context.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. To develop and to apply in practice appropriate skills and approaches for fundraising for science communication
  2. To develop and to apply in practice appropriate skills and approaches for promotion and marketing for science communication
  3. To develop and to apply in practice skills in the use of social media for science communication and to reflect on the role of social media (benefits and pitfalls) in science communication
