On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Discuss the main trends in Chinese literature from the early 20th century to the present
  2. Employ various literary theories and approaches in analysing Chinese literature
  3. Translate a variety of Chinese literary texts into natural English
  4. Deal with both full-form and simplified Chinese characters
  5. Formulate and produce an essay on a chosen aspect of Chinese literature
