SummaryAssessment of oral language skills
Course description In this course, students will discuss and reflect on current topics from Portuguese-speaking culture, politics and society.
The language skill that the course focuses on is oral communication.
The students give a presentation each semester.
Classes are introduced by a topic on a text or video and then lead to group discussion. Students practice their spoken Portuguese and enhance their debating skills during the discussion of their ideas while putting them into context.
For the presentation, they learn how and where to find information and how to evaluate their sources.
Students will argue logically and draw objective conclusions at the end of the discussion.
Both the presentation and the discussions in class are good preparation for the oral exam.
