Summary'Process of Care - Respiratory' is one of the systems-based courses covering all of the systems of the body. These integrated courses will bring together basic scientists and practicing clinicians to teach about the presentation, diagnosis and management of the diseases affecting the different body system. Knowledge-based clinico-pathological conferences will ensure that core respiratory topics are addressed. There will be integration with disciplines closely linked to respiratory medicine - radiology, paediatric chest medicine, thoracic surgery, microbiology, practical pharmacology and intensive care. Most of the teaching will take place within teaching hospitals although there will be some element from general practice.

Learning Outcomes
Students will have covered the more advanced clinical skills appropriate to the respiratory system. Intended outcomes are that they will have a high level of competence in clinical and communication skills, a broad knowledge base and the attitudes appropriate to medical practice. As members of the multidisciplinary team, students will learn to deal with all patients and their relatives truthfully, compassionately, professionally and confidentially and will learn to communicate clearly, professionally and confidentially with other members of the team.

Additional Class Delivery Information The course lasts for seven weeks. Weeks 1-3 focus on teaching clinical skills and delivery of relevant core information. Weeks 4-7 consolidates clinical skills, provides opportunity for clinical experience in Respiratory medicine and assessment.
