SummaryTaking current developments in culture and the socio-economic planning framework into consideration, the focus of this course lies in the scientific and artistic development of solutions in design. The shaping of the landscape through infrastructure, i.e. waterways and traffic systems, are core design and research areas.
Course description This placement comprises the following three courses:

History of Landscape Architecture (10 SCQF Credits)
Master Studio III (30 SCQF Credits)
Contemporary Issues in Landscape Architecture (10 SCQF Credits)

Teaching is centred around intensively supervised design studios and carried out in small groups. This helps students to reflect on their creative activity as well as developments in contemporary society. Taking current developments in culture and the socio-economic planning framework into consideration, the focus lies on the scientific and artistic development of solutions in design. The shaping of the landscape through infrastructure, i.e. waterways and traffic systems, are core design and research areas.

Experts and practitioners have teaching assignments in Hannover, so that theoretical and scientific course content always responds to practical requirements.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Develop in-depth knowledge of current theoretical and practical approaches in designing urban landscapes and waterscapes.
  2. Demonstrate stengthened knowledge of basing design on scientific principles.
  3. Acquire knowledge on the theoretical and practical principals regarding the preservation of ancient gardens.

Special Arrangements This is an umbrella course to cover the 50 SCQF Credits undertaken by European Masters in Landscape Architecture (EMiLA) students, who choose LUH for their second placement. Please note that students will be taught in German.
