Summary | This course will give students knowledge and understanding of the aetiology of reproductive cancers, screening and treatment interventions and the implications and effects of cancer and its treatment on reproduction. |
Course description |
The course is designed to give students an understanding of reproductive cancers.
There will be 20 one hour lectures which will draw on the research expertise of the teaching staff and cover the different reproductive cancers ¿ uterine, ovarian, endometrial, cervical, vaginal, vulvar, penile, prostate and testicular cancers. The course will cover origin and pathophysiology of the cancers, animal models of reproductive cancers, and advances in screening and prevention strategies, mechanisms of treatment interventions, and the impact and implications of cancers on subsequent fertility. Lectures will be complemented by tutorials and workshops. The in course assessment will involve group work to develop an understanding of the current research focus in this field and will provide an opportunity for scientific communication and insight into public engagement.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
