SummaryThe aim of this course is to teach the student how to take a comprehensive history and conduct a thorough examination leading to a diagnosis.
Course description Through didactic teaching and clinical attendance, students learn the basic principles of history taking, examination and investigation which will then lead them to formulate a diagnosis for a patient. This is built upon in the clinical setting teaching where the student is expected to learn how to build on the basic principles to be able to deal with more complex cases.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Take a systematic history from a child and their guardian
  2. Conduct a thorough extra- and intra-oral examination in a manner which is appropriate to the age and stage of development of the child
  3. Discuss the Ionising radiation regulations
  4. Choose the most appropriate radiographic technique for each individual patient
  5. Understand the data protection regulations associated with clinical imaging, radiography and storage and access of patient records
