SummaryThe course introduces the basic structures of Arabic grammar and is designed to teach students to understand, speak and write modern standard Arabic to an advanced elementary / low intermediate level.

Prohibited Combinations Other requirements All students attend five Arabic classes per week. On Mondays the cohort is split into two, with each group attending a lecture at either 9.00 am or 2.00 pm. Students will be allocated to a lecture group and they should attend each week at the allocated time.

On Tuesdays to Fridays students attend language classes which will be scheduled each day at 9.00 am, 10.00 am, 12.00 pm and 2.00 pm. Students will be allocated to a group of approx 20 - 25 students, and they should attend the same group each day at the allocated time.

Students attending language classes at 9.00 am and 10.00 am will attend the 9.00 am lecture on Mondays, and students allocated to the 12.00 pm and 2.00 pm language classes will attend the 2.00 pm lecture. Students will be allocated to groups according to their availability.

Learning Outcomes
Students learn to read and write the Arabic script.
Students acquire knowledge of up to 1,000 key vocabulary items and the core concepts of Arabic grammar.
Students will gain the ability to understand, speak, read and write elementary Modern Standard Arabic to an advanced elementary / low intermediate level.
