| At the end of the course students will be able to
Demonstrate a critical understanding of the range of epistemological positions underpinning qualitative research (including how these differ from quantitative approaches) and how they inform decisions regarding design and methodology.
-Demonstrate a critical understanding of the issues involved in generating and analysing qualitative data to inform short term quality improvement cycles.
-Identify research questions to address specific service issues
-Design qualitative research and evaluation strategies to address questions
-Collect data using a range of qualitative research methods
-Collate, organise and analyse qualitative data
-Reflect critically on the ways in which the findings are shaped by the methods and approaches used
-Demonstrate understanding of the ethical and political issues arising when carrying out research for service improvement.
-Code qualitative data using, paper based methods, NVIVO or other qualitative analysis software.
-Presentation of qualitative information to inform a service process
