This course focuses on some of the most exciting developments in early Twentieth Century writing. It explores works by modernist authors such as James Joyce, William Faulkner and Jean Rhys, who developed radical new styles, challenging formal and social conventions, and creating innovative works that reshaped our understanding of literature.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. read actively rather than passively;
  2. demonstrate a working knowledge of the vocabulary of literary analysis;
