SummaryThis course is aimed at experienced practising healthcare professionals with an educational remit. The aim of the course is to allow students to undertake an in depth study into a topical area of their choice in clinical education. The course will allow students to develop their research skills, produce an informed, evidence-based position paper and engage in academic debate.
This process will allow students to consider the role of education in improving practice and more general benefits to society.
Whilst the choice of topic will be the students, it is envisaged topics may include inter-professional education, social inclusion, stakeholder engagement, MOOCs or widening access.
Course description This course is aimed at experienced practising healthcare professionals with an educational remit. Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Identify a topical area in clinical education and undertake an in-depth period of independent study in the area of their choice
  2. Critically engage with, and evaluate the literature in the area of choice
  3. Synthesise information gathered, selection of relevant points and distillation to produce a short position paper
  4. Lead an online seminar and communicate key findings to peer group
  5. Actively engage in peer assessment
