|Summary||This is an advanced composition course in which students will explore their own musical language and its relationship to mainstreams and currents in the wider compositional world. They will show full knowledge of where their own ideas may draw on the ideas of others and may conceivably, though not necessarily, break new ground.

||One portfolio of compositions to be submitted at the end of Semester 1 (40%).
One portfolio of compositions to be submitted at the end of Semester 2 (60%).
||Feedback will be provided orally during individual fortnightly tutorials.
Written feedback for summative assessments will be provided within 15 working days, or in time to be useful in your next assignment on that course, whichever is sooner.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Create music that expresses their ideas clearly, using a consistent and secure musical language across all of their work.
- Demonstrate a reflective awareness of relevant and contemporary artistic context.
- Collaborate and work with professional musicians in the development, rehearsal and presentation of their music.
- Submit scores and parts to professional standards of preparation.
