| Summary | The aim of this course is to offer MSc students an introduction to contemporary debates in philosophy of science. The course will run as a visiting speaker seminar series plus tutorials. |
| Course description |
The course will cover a range of key topics in philosophy of science, to be determined by the research specializations of visiting speakers. Each speaker in the seminar series will also guide tutorial discussion of their research with students, providing a springboard for students to probe deeper into the subject matter covered in the seminars. Tutorials will combine analysis of relevant background materials with detailed exploration of ongoing research. Students will conduct in-depth investigation of a chosen topic for the coursework.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- demonstrate a well rounded view of contemporary debates in philosophy of science.
- enhance their critical skills both orally (via Q&A at the speakers seminars) and in writing (via coursework assessment).

Readings will be determined by visiting speakers, but typically involve a combination of classic texts and working drafts of current research.
