Summary | Key Developments in European Theatre is taught in two 2-hour seminars per week by tutors from different subject areas. It comprises units on the important developments in dramatic theory and praxis in Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Scandinavian countries, since the early modern period. Each unit will also introduce students to one or two key dramas from the country under consideration. |

Learning Outcomes
Students will acquire a broad sense of how theatre and drama have developed in Europe, and how intellectual and artistic cross-fertilization has taken place between countries. They will become familiar with a selection of key theatre texts and key dramatic theories, and will be encouraged to see the relevance of historical developments to the theory and praxis of European theatre now.
