| Summary | This course will look closely at the management of pain and anxiety by pharmacological and non-pharmacological means, including conscious sedation, cognitive behavioural therapy, neurolinguistic programming, hypnotherapy and acupuncture. This module will also consider oro-facial pain and temporomandibular disorders. |
| Course description |
This course is designed to ensure that the students have a good understanding of the management of pain and anxiety by pharmacological and non-pharmacological means, including conscious sedation, cognitive behavioural therapy, neurolinguistic programming, hypnotherapy, acupuncture and oro-facial pain and temporomandibular disorders.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of oro-facial pain and Temporomandibular Dysfunction
- Assess and recognise the need for further therapy to help patients manage their fears and anxiety by pharmacological or non-pharmacological means
- Demonstrate good knowledge and understanding of management options of fear and anxiety by pharmacological or non-pharmacological means
