DEGREE REGULATIONS & PROGRAMMES OF STUDY 2018/2019

Before selecting your outside courses, please ensure you have met your Personal Tutor.

Entry into Honours:
(1) students must pass courses to the required value of 240 credits in the first two years;
(2) students must achieve 50% or more at first attempt in all required second-year courses for their registered degree;
(3) students must achieve at least 50% overall in the relevant second-year language course(s), including at least 50% in the language component of that course.

During 3rd year: At least 30 weeks must be spent in the relevant country and prescribed work completed in Social Policy and the relevant language in an approved establishment.

Final Assessment:

One unit of assessment is allocated to every 20 credits and constitutes one 20-credit paper. The following are the twelve 20-credit papers on which the classification of the degree is based. (Papers that for the purposes of degree classification acquire a weighting of 40 credits are, therefore, listed twice.)
1. Scandinavian Language Paper 1 (10 credits from Language acquisition and 10 from Y4 LP1 course)
2. Scandinavian Language Paper 2 (10 credits from Language acquisition and 10 from Y4 LP2 course)
3. Oral for Danish/Norwegian/Swedish (taught and assessed in Y4)
4. Scandinavian Online Language Course for Year Abroad Students
5. Social Policy YA Work
6. Social Policy YA Work (Same mark as 5)
7. MEL Year Abroad work OR MEL Dissertation Preparation (see 8)
8. MEL Long Essay OR MEL Dissertation Completion (Dissertation papers 7 & 8 are a combined grade 10% from preparation and 90% from final dissertation preparation. Credits cannot be awarded for Dissertation preparation unless the full 2 year course is completed.)
9. Scandinavian Language option course
10. Analytical Perspectives in Social Policy
11. Social Policy Dissertation
12. Social Policy Dissertation

7. MEL Dissertation Preparation OR Year Abroad Assessment (same mark as 8).
8. MEL Dissertation Completion OR MEL Long Essay.
9. Honours option course in Scandinavian Studies.
10. Analytical Perspectives in Social Policy.
11. Social Policy Dissertation.
12. Social Policy Dissertation.
