| Summary | This first semester course consists of a series of projects that introduce ideas across environmental practices, including art, architecture, science and philosophy. Students will be compelled to respond to a range of varying contexts, both gallery and field based, to produce a series of professionally aligned works. As creative responses these are attuned to individuals own line of enquiry and practice, which may range across art and architectural methods and forms. This studio is enriched by strong consideration of multidisciplinary theory and practice, encouraging students to consider approaches beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries.
Aims:
To assert the values inherent in interdisciplinary collaboration and generate an awareness of the links between contexts, research and creative practice;
To encourage theoretical and practical experimentation based on rigorous research skills interrelated with applied practice;
To enhance your skills of critical analysis and evaluation, which allow complex issues to be examined systematically and creatively.

The course will offer a structured approach for development through individual tutorials and group discussion. Group interaction is encouraged and given the multidisciplinary make-up of the studio cohort collaborative projects are encouraged. The criteria for assessment are aligned with the learning outcomes and course aims. |
