Summary | This course will introduce a range of fundamental skills and Computer Drawing principles to ensure that students can use relevant CAD equipment to develop design projects and competencies. |
Course description |
This course involves students attending weekly lectures and workshops where they will be taken through the various stages and commands of CAD and Sketch-up. Using weekly tasks and themes, students will gain basic knowledge of these computer programmes. This will allow students to gain 2D orthographic and basic modelling skills. At the end of the course, students will be able to draw their own project using the programmes to support their own design project.

Other requirements | This course is open to ALL STUDENTS and enrolments are managed on a first come first served basis until the course is full. The course will be open to enrolments from Wednesday 11th September at 11.00 am. Please sign up for the course through your own School (they will advise if this is done via your PT, SSO or Teaching Office). We do not currently keep a waiting list. |

100% weighting for portfolio to include:
Sketchbook(s) detailing ideas progressed.
Booklet detailing responses to lecture course work and tasks.
Presentation drawings (printed) of final project produced using CAD skills learnt (minimum size A3).
Relationship between Assessment and Learning Outcomes:
All three Learning Outcomes are assessed, and are equally weighted in the assessment, of all assessment components. |
Feedback |
Formative feedback and Assessment:
Group presentations, tutorials and crits will include verbal feedback from peers and staff on a weekly basis.
In week 6 there will be a formative feedback point where students will submit a self-evaluation form, along with a copy of work to date, and be given written formative feedback on this.
Summative Feedback and Assessment:
At the end of the course students will submit a final edited portfolio of work and a self-evaluation form, and be given written feedback and grades on their work submitted. |

- Apply taught concepts to the development and documentation of a design project using CAD
