SummaryThis course will allow students to evaluate key design tenets and core values of a commercial brand, and develop skills to bring that brand to life within an interior space or series of spaces.
Course description This course will introduce key terms in relation to designing for a brand space, such as ethos and core values to the students. It will engage them in various research methods in relation to brand identity.

A mid-sized site will be developed for a recognised function such as retail, exhibition or workplace, and as such allow a thorough and detailed study and scheme. Each student should envisage the interior as a three-dimensional manifestation of the identity of the brand.

Students will undertake research into relevant precedent studies in both building type and proposed use relating to the project brief. They will then prepare sketch concept proposals for use in interim discussions and group sessions.

Students will be expected to deliver final proposals, which clearly communicate spatial layout, section and elevation, furniture and fittings, lighting, material selection, and illustrate key design features within the scheme. They will engage in early stage thinking about material specification and detailing.
