SummaryThe aim of this module is to introduce you to the theoretical and empirical analysis of economic fluctuations. By the end of the course you should be able to outline and manipulate the basic theoretical models, derive and analyse the relevant policy conclusions implied by them, and refer to the available evidence.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Outline and manipulate a number of basic theoretical models, derive and analyse the relevant policy conclusions implied by them, and refer to the available evidence.
  2. Develop and demonstrate research and investigative skills such as problem framing and solving and the ability to assemble and evaluate complex evidence and arguments.
  3. Develop and demonstrate communication skills in order to critique, create and communicate understanding and to collaborate with and relate to others.
  4. Develop and demonstrate personal effectiveness through task-management, time-management, teamwork and group interaction, dealing with uncertainty and adapting to new situations, personal and intellectual autonomy through independent learning.
  5. Develop and demonstrate practical/technical skills such as, modelling skills (abstraction, logic, succinctness), qualitative and quantitative analysis and interpretation of data.
