| Course description |
Science of Medicine is a 20-credit, 12-week course which aims to provide rich and diverse preparatory materials for the successful completion of the MRCP (Membership of the Royal College of Physicians) Part 1 exam. The weeks represent individual specialties in the field of Internal Medicine which are directly related to the MRCP syllabus, and provides the Year 1 students with a basis of knowledge in key areas both for general skills and for the exam. These weeks are overseen by both a dedicated course organizer who ensures that the content material each week is to a high standard meeting the SCQF requirements, while individual experts from the NHS and University of Edinburgh tutor the students in their specialist fields.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Critical review of the anatomy, physiology and pathological processes that are important for the common diseases encountered in general medicine.
- Critically review, consolidate and extend knowledge, skills practices and thinking in the approach to illness in a variety of specialist ares such as Cardiology, Neurology, Haematology and more.
