SummaryEvidence and information are key to change: firstly to demonstrate that the current service is sub-optimal in some way; secondly in considering options for change and their practical implications (staffing, client through-put, facilities and equipment, client and staff views); secondly in monitoring and managing the implementation of the service change decided; and finally in demonstrating the outcome of the service change. A further key use of information is to increase organisational learning and knowledge by disseminating not just the outcomes of the service change but also the challenges met and addressed. This module will provide an introduction to the different methodologies, which can be employed in generating knowledge.
