| Summary | This course will equip students to make a research contribution in Linguistics & English Language.
Lectures will be held in Semester 1, and students attend Linguistic Circle talks which are held throughout the year (MSc Applied Linguistics students, or those enrolled on Introduction to Discourse Analysis) must attend the Linguistic Circle only in Semester 2). |

The course focuses on understanding and evaluating existing research, principles of research design and hypothesis testing, and effective communication of research findings.

Students will submit short assessments which are written records of exercises done in class or written reflections of discussions in class. Assessments are due approximately every second week and are graded as pass / fail. Students have to submit and pass all assessments in order to pass the course. |
